USA 2009 – New Orleans Day 1

A bit of a non-event today as we recovered from the overnight flights.

Departed SFO at 12.35am (Saturday morning) via Houston arriving at 5.30am (not much sleep there a 3 hour flight due to the time change). Then 2 hours in the airport before a quick up and down to NOLA. Then into a cab driven by a non-local, local who didn’t know where our accommodation was, so got us to the general vicinity and then started asking passers by.

Finally made it and met the VRBO landlord. The place is not quite a spectacular as San Francisco, but very comfortable just the same.

By this time it was about 9.30am and we headed off to find some breakfast we stumbled across a place just around the corner called La Peniche where we were able to get a good Southern Breakfast including biscuit, gravy and grits.

By the time we got back to the new home base (pics to come tomorrow) it was time for me to crash and catch up on some sleep. Not a bad idea as the forecast for the rest of the day was cold and wet. Pat and Mish went for a bit of an explore while I was napping.

The forecast for the next 5 days looks good with rain clearing with daily temperatures between 18 and 23 degrees C.

We’ll time for some dinner and then try to get the body clock set back again.
